Our Fab Four

These 4 beauties are the original foundation stock of our Shubunkin line.  There are 3 males and 1 female (genders were completely by chance).  Their names are clockwise from top left - Saddle (female), Zorro, Tiger and Blue-Eyes.  We purchased these fish when they were 3 months old and they were around 5cm long. They were placed into a half IBC and fed live food (white worms, bloodworms, wrigglers) along with lots of fresh aquatic plants to eat (azolla, frogbit) with the bi-weekly Xtreme goldfish pellets..  These goldfish  grew very quickly in the first year and produced a large number of very healthy fry.   Over the next 2 years, we've moved to feeding Saki-Hikari pellets.
